My name is Adam J. Tornatore and in 1989 I purchased a truck and went into business as AJT Trucking. In 2001, I decided to offer the products I was trucking to the public. It was a natural evolution. The end result was Blocks & Rocks on Cobb Street in Oneida at the intersection of Route 46.
Blocks and Rocks specializes in the sale of a variety of block and brick, a multitude of natural stone and a couple of lines of cultured stone. Topsoil, an extensive mulch selection, landscaping fabric, a host of lawn and garden tools, flower and vegetable seeds and some drainage products round out his products.
We also offer a tool rental service. We have saws, splitters, plate tampers etc..
The one thing Blocks & Rocks doesn't do is design and installlation. We don't want to compete with our commercial clients - landscape designers and landscapers. They need to know their clients won't come here only to lose business to us.
Homeowners need not feel they will be left in their yards alone, though. We will help people get their projects started. We will give them ideas and point them in the right direction. We just try to stay out of design, out of respect for landscapers and installers.
The Blocks & Rocks inventory and display lot is a treasure trove of ideas in and of itself. Several decorative retaining walls and other landscaping treatments are featured on the property and bays of mulch line the easternmost portion of the business. Also, sitting out for inspection in natural sunlight, are the many types of boulders, rocks, stone, blocks and bricks we have to offer.
A small, locally owned business like Blocks & Rocks has a number of advantages over the larger retail chain home improvement stores. First and foremost is service. Tornatore also offers nearly 20 years' experience with his products, something not usually found in the large scale retail world. Residential customers can pick up what they want at Blocks & Rocks or we will truck product anywhere the customer wants it to go.
